Is Invisalign® Right for My Teenager?

Oct 14, 2021

You want to put your best foot forward everyday and anyone can start to feel self-conscious with crooked teeth or a gap in their smile. If your teen's teeth are holding them back from sharing their smile with the world, explore your options with Invisalign®.

The Discretion of Invisalign®

Invisalign® is a brand of clear aligners designed so that only the wearer knows they're there. Gone are the days of metal hardware! Invisalign® allows your teen or you as an adult to straighten your teeth on your terms. Some benefits include:

  • Help with a wide range of issues, including gaps and misalignment
  • No specialized oral hygiene while wearing the aligners - simply remove them to brush and floss.
  • Keep teeth in place with an Invisalign® retainer once treatment is done

Invisalign® Is Approved for All Ages

The Invisalign® treatment is not limited to teen or adult mouths. Children between the ages of 6 and 10 may be candidates for what's called Phase 1 Treatment. Invisalign® has several advantages over traditional braces.

  • They are barely noticeable.
  • They can be removed for short periods of time.
  • They are more comfortable than brackets and wires.
  • They get results faster.
  • They require fewer (and often shorter) appointments

These benefits allow your teen or you to continue enjoying your favorite foods and spend less time at the dentist's office. Invisalign® also offers mandibular advancement through their precision wings, fixing overbites and underbites in teens while straightening their teeth.

How to Get Your Invisalign® Aligners

Once your dentist has evaluated the positioning of your teeth to see if you are a good candidate for Invisalign®, the process is simple after that.

  1. There is an initial consultation where 3D images of your teeth are captured to determine the length of your treatment plan.
  2. These images are used to create your first aligners.
  3. As your smile shifts, you will be sent new aligners until your teeth are in the desired position.
  4. A retainer is then provided to maintain the results.
